Hull KR have cemented their status as Super League and treble winners but where does this current group rank among the all-time great sides?
It’s a question that will have different answers from every person you ask and that’s because it’s hard to compare eras and also to quantify greatness.
In sport, the best marker for greatness is silverware and Hull KR have swept up in 2025, winning the Challenge Cup, League Leaders Shield, and now the Grand Final after beating Wigan Warriors 24-6.
They’re just the fifth side in the Super League era to complete the treble so if you look at greatness by the metric of silverware then they’re already a top five side.
It’s now upon them to ensure this isn’t the last piece of silverware they win for another 40 years with Willie Peters’ side tasked with winning again, however, winning a treble again is unprecedented.
That was a point that Willie Peters made as he highlighted just how special this side is. No team have won the treble more than once with Bradford Bulls (2003), St Helens (2006), Leeds Rhinos (2015) and Wigan Warriors (2024) the only sides to have previously earned the accolade.
Where do Hull KR rank among the great Super League sides?
It would be fair to say that Hull KR sit behind the Wigan Warriors side of 2024 given that Wigan also won the World Club Challenge, though in Hull KR’s defence, they weren’t offered that opportunity.
They will get it next year and that would be a mark of true greatness if they can claim that and then defend their other titles, but for now the Robins sit behind the ’24 Warriors. That said, they’ve beaten that same all-conquering Wigan side (minus Willie Isa and Mike Cooper) twice in 2025, including at Old Trafford.
St Helens’ 2006 treble was also potentially more dominant in that they won their Challenge Cup 42-12 and then defeated Hull FC 26-4 at Old Trafford, a wider margin of victory than the impressive one that Hull KR won by. The Red Vee also only lost four games compared to Hull KR’s five and scored at an incredible rate of 33.5 points per game.
Leeds’ treble was special in that so many of their core players were retiring but they nicked the League Leaders Shield on points difference, though they did record the most dominant Challenge Cup win ever as they beat Hull KR 50-0 at Wembley. A comeback win in the Grand Final made it dramatic as well but pound for pound, you could argue that Hull KR outrank them.
The first ever treble was won by Bradford and winning it first is prestigious but Hull KR winning their first Super League crown as part of a treble is even more impressive and speaks to the dominance of this side.
The Robins’ defence ranks better than any previous treble winner and they boast one of the largest-ever margins of victory at Old Trafford but true greatness will be defined next year and the year after when they prove whether this is a flash in the pan, or if they’re here to stay as champion teams do.
For now, there’s a strong argument that only Wigan of 2024 and St Helens of 2006 rank ahead of them but backing up silverware with more success is the true test of greatness. Hull KR have that opportunity in 2026.

Sam Cook are you a HKR fan? I’m a Rhino & i agree yes we did pinch the Shield at the last minute then wiped the floor with Rovers at Wembley but it was hardly a comeback win in the Grand Final imo!

ALL teams sealing a treble are equal. Each season offers different challenges. It is a remarkable achievement, hence only five teams have achieved it!
