Leigh Leopards have continued their spate of retentions with a former Wigan Warriors man now signing a new two-year deal.
Both Gareth O’Brien and Jack Hughes have signed new one-year deals this week and Nathan Wilde has become the latest Leigh player to sign a new deal, however, the 25-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Leopards.
He’s spent much of the season out on loan with Featherstone Rovers, playing 19 games for the Championship side, but he’s someone who is likely to ‘figure more’ for Leigh according to club owner Derek Beaumont.
Wilde has made just two appearances for Leigh this season but he’s been labelled a ‘key member’ of the squad within the club’s press release to announce his new deal.
That confirmed his new two-year deal that keeps him at the club until the end of 2027, adding that he has been a “key member of Adrian Lam’s squad since the inception of the Leopards brand”.
Leigh Leopards re-sign off-contract forward to two-year deal
The former Wigan Warriors forward joined the Leopards from Newcastle Thunder ahead of that 2023 campaign when Leigh returned to Super League.
Speaking on his new deal, Wilde said: “I’m over the moon to sign on again. It was an easy decision and things were done quickly.
“Adrian Lam has been good with me and I’ve had the best of both worlds this year. Having quality coaching during the week and playing regularly with a good team at weekends.”
On his ambitions to play more, Wilde said: “I’ve been part of the growth of the club and it’s a pleasure to re-sign. Next year I want to strive to string more games together and have a really good crack at it.”

Derek Beaumont added: “Nathan is a great guy and a popular member of the squad. In the team room, whenever he’s selected there’s always a big cheer.
“He’s a good person and is patient with a good understanding of where his career is progressing. I’m sure he’ll figure more and more as he’s developing nicely and it’s great that he’s extended.”
Wilde hasn’t been named in Leigh’s 21-man squad for the play-off clash with Wakefield Trinity.
