A forward who was released by Wakefield Trinity midway through the 2025 season has signed a two-year deal with a Championship club.
Isaac Shaw, who spent time on trial with Castleford Tigers following his release, has signed with Midlands Hurricanes for 2026 and 2027 with the 23-year-old becoming the Championship club’s latest signing.
Shaw has 10 Super League appearances to his name with six of those coming for his former club Trinity, the first of those coming in 2022 as he debuted at just 19.
He’d make a sole loan appearance with Hull KR in 2023 and then played three games for Salford Red Devils in 2025, capping off his Super League career today with the rest of his career appearances in England coming out on loan with other clubs. He did play six games in France for Villeneuve Leopards, for whom he signed with ahead of the 2023 season, before rejoining Wakefield.
Shaw now lands his two-year deal with Midlands Hurricanes, where he has been handed the number 28 shirt.

Speaking on his move, Shaw said: “I’m over the moon to finally be able to pen a deal with Mark and the Canes – I’m excited to be part of the club and the direction it’s going.
“I can’t wait to get in and meet the lads but most importantly get to work and prove myself to the coaches and the fans as the club faces a new test in the Championship for 2026.”
Head coach Mark Dunning, who took charge of the Hurricanes back in 2023, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Isaac and his family to the club and the wider Canes family.”
On what Shaw will bring, he said: “Isaac is a big, direct middle who will add and contribute nicely to the pack we currently have at the club. We were made aware of his availability during the off-season and upon speaking to him I was impressed by his outlook on the game.
“He’s been in good systems and gained valuable experience at both Super League and Championship level over the last few years, which will stand him in good stead as he looks to work his way in to our team and establish himself over the next two years.”
