Former Super League winger Regan Grace has seen his horrific injury record extended with the Welsh international set for more surgery.
Cross-code star Grace, 29, is set to be out of contract in February, however, any plans to sign with a new club will be put on hold with the winger set for yet another surgery.
He ended his Super League career with a ruptured Achilles, suffering that blow in August 2022 having announced in July of that year that he would be making the switch to rugby union.
That move to Racing 92 was effectively scuppered by the injury with Grace suffering a recurrence of the Achilles injury when rehabbing.
He’d join Bath for 2024 but played just two competitive games before playing four matches with Cardiff, then joining Sale in late 2025. He’s out of contract with the Sharks in February but he’s now confirmed that he has suffered an Achilles injury on the opposite side, meaning he’s now set for yet another surgery and lengthy recovery.
Regan Grace suffers another Achilles blow
Throughout his rugby union career and the various rehabs, there have been countless links of a possible Super League return and given his off-contract status, Grace would have been a player that clubs may have considered this season. He was most recently linked with York Knights.
However, he’s now set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines with the 29-year-old taking to social media to confirm his injury.
Posting on Instagram, Grace said: “Unfortunately, I’ve suffered another Achilles injury this week on the opposite side to my previous one so I’ll be undergoing surgery tomorrow.
“After putting everything into getting back on the pitch following multiple setbacks, this is a tough one to process. I’m still finding my feet mentally and figuring out what the next chapter looks like. I love rugby, I’d have walked away a long time ago if I didn’t, but I know the journey ahead won’t be easy.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the support and belief around me, which means more than I can put into words especially from my partner, Nina.
“I genuinely give my all to the sport. I don’t have all the answers right now but I will keep moving forward.”

Serves him right!
The grass is not always greener on the other side. Should have stuck with where he was, instead of chasing the mullah!
