Despite reports of a Super League return, former St Helens man Regan Grace appears to have landed a new club with his rugby union career set to continue.
Grace has had a very difficult time of it in rugby union, mainly due to injuries with his Super League and St Helens career ending on account of injury.
Having been part of St Helens 2019, 2020 and 2021 Super League-winning sides, it was announced midway through the 2022 season that the winger would be departing and making the switch to rugby union.
Just under a month later, his season ended with a ruptured achilles and a recurrence of that same injury during his time with French side Racing 92 meant he never played a game for them before being released.
He did link up with Bath and make two appearances before joining Cardiff earlier this year where he also made a handful of appearances, but an apparent lack of opportunity saw reports of a Super League return.

Those reports have now seemingly been put to bed after it was confirmed that Grace has been on trial with Gallagher Premiership club Sale Sharks and he’s now played his first game for them.
The 28-year-old played just under an hour in Saturday’s Prem Rugby Cup as Sale lost 20-0 to one of Grace’s former clubs Bath.
Per a report from the BBC, Grace has not been handed a contract but he is on trial and Saturday’s game was an opportunity to show the club what he is all about.
Sale’s kicking coach Warren Spragg was full of praise for Grace ahead of the game, pointing to the winger’s Super League pedigree as a reason for Sale to be excited about the ex-Saints man.
“Regan’s a great lad and we’ve really enjoyed having him around since the summer,” explained Spragg.
“There’s a special player in there. You can’t score that many Super League tries and not have something about you.”
During his time with St Helens, Grace scored 88 tries in 142 games with 75 of his tries coming in Super League including 20 during the 2019 season, where only Tommy Makinson, Ash Handley and Niall Evalds scored more.

Injury prone, had the fitness coached out of him, barely clinging on to a career in Union, just who would be daft enough to take a risk on him? Better to invest the money in youth development, bring new younger talent through the ranks.
