Former St Helens and Warrington Wolves man makes Championship loan move

Andre Savelio in action for Hull FC

Ex-Super League forward Andre Savelio will have a new club for the remainder of 2026, with the former St Helens star landing a loan deal for the rest of the season.

Savelio is currently contracted to Doncaster RLFC, and has been since the start of 2025. However, the last campaign was a difficult one for the New Zealander, and he only managed to play two matches.

He spent the final half of the season on loan at Goole Vikings, and that is where he will feature again in 2026, after linking up with Scott Taylor’s side once again.

The 30-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the Vikings, who also have veteran forwards Brett Ferres and Liam Watts on their books for the season.

Making his debut with St Helens in 2014, he went on to have spells at Warrington, Hull FC and Huddersfield in his Super League career, and represented the Combined Nations All-Stars in 2021.

Goole, who had their first ever season in League One last year, have a squad made up of young talent and experienced heads. Savelio will fill into the latter category, and if he can remain fit will be a solid addition to the club.

The Vikings began their 2026 Championship season with a defeat to Keighley Cougars. However, they bounced back with a strong Challenge Cup win against amateur side Mirfield Spartans.

They will take on Swinton Lions this weekend, where Savelio is expected to be available for selection.
