Ex-NRL star and recently retired Hull FC man, Jordan Rapana, has found a new club that will see him continue his career in rugby league.
The 19-time international joined the Black and Whites in 2025, for what would be the final season of his professional career. He made 21 appearances for the club, switching between both full-back and centre across the year.
He became one of the NRL’s best backs during his time at Canberra Raiders, where he played from 2014-2024. In 2017, he was named the Dally M Winger of the Year, after crossing 21 times in 23 matches that season.
In total, he represented the Green Machine 214 times, and scored 106 tries. He featured in his one and only Grand Final, on either side of the world, in 2019, as the Raiders lost 14-8 to Sydney Roosters.
Now, Rapana will return to where it all began for him as a rugby league player, and has re-joined his junior club, Currumbin Eagles RLFC for 2026.
The Gold Coast-based side play in the regional leagues of the Brisbane Second Division, and have produced stars such as Rapana, as well as Queensland winger Xavier Coates and Melbourne Storm half-back Jahrome Hughes. They are currently coached by former NRL legend, Matt Geyer, who’s son Cole, has recently signed for Championship side Oldham.
As mentioned, Rapana decided to hang up his boots at the end of 2025, so it remains unclear as to whether the Kiwi will be joining the club as a player or a coach, however one thing is for certain – it is great to see a stalwart of the game like Rapana going back to his roots and helping out his junior side.
