Morgan Gannon will return to England at the end of the season, NRL side New Zealand Warriors have confirmed.
Gannon is a former Leeds Rhinos academy product who played 68 Super League games for the club before departing down under ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Joining the Warriors on a three-year deal, he will now only see out one of those three after being granted a release from his current contract due to “personal circumstances.”
The 21-year-old made his NRL debut back in March, but lasted just five minutes due to suffering yet another head knock.
Concussions have been a big part of Gannon’s career so far, with the back rower needing to take the full 2024 season away from the game in order to fully recover.
Warriors CEO Cameron George has released a statement confirming his end-of-season exit.
“It’s a tough decision for Morgan, but he has our support,” he said.
“We appreciate having him with us and look forward to him finishing the year strongly.”
Leeds boss Brad Arthur confirmed to the press yesterday that they were “aware” of Gannon’s situation, should they wish to bring the Halifax-born talent back to the club.
