Just a day after his release from Huddersfield Giants was confirmed, centre Liam Sutcliffe has found a new club with the ex-Leeds Rhinos man making a move to the Championship.
Sutcliffe signed at Huddersfield ahead of the 2025 season but had a torrid two years there, making just five appearances in total as injuries took their toll.
The centre is just coming off the back of one of those serious injuries that has prevented him from playing at all this season with head coach Jim Lenihan revealing that the club would send Sutcliffe out on loan to help him build match fitness.
Whilst he did play out on loan last week at Halifax Panthers, he’s now made a permanent move away from the Accu Stadium with Midlands Hurricanes signing the former Leeds Rhinos man on a deal until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old will bring buckets of experience to the Hurricanes, who currently sit eighth in the Championship with their play-off spot locked in. He’ll join former Leeds Rhinos men Luis Roberts and Toby Warren, and could even make his debut this weekend with a home clash against table-toppers London Broncos.
Sutcliffe has 236 Super League appearances to his name, the majority of which came at Leeds where he started his career and lifted two Super League titles and two Challenge Cups, though he left the Rhinos ahead of the 2023 season.
He’d play two years at Hull FC, registering 11 tries in 39 appearances before his move to Huddersfield, for whom he has not played since April 2025 with his final appearance for the Giants coming against the Rhinos.
