Catalans Dragons have re-signed their former forward Mickael Goudemand, the French international who had a spell at Leeds Rhinos in 2024.
Goudemand joined Catalans in 2018 but would make the switch to Headingley for the 2024 season, lasting just a year at Leeds Rhinos before heading to the Super XIII competition in France with Albi.
The 30-year-old then tested himself in Australia, playing in the New South Wales Cup for the Newcastle Knights’ reserves, however, he is now back in Super League on a short-term deal with former club Catalans.
His next game for the club will mark his 100th appearance for the Perpignan-based side though it’s unclear when he will return to the playing field as he suffered an injury down under at Newcastle.
Catalans confirmed his move in a club statement, reading: “The club is pleased to announce the return of Mickael Goudemand who has signed a contract until the end of the season.
“Aged 30, the French international second row signs his return to the Dragons after his departure in 2023.”

Speaking on his new deal and re-joining the club where he made his Super League debut, Goudemand said: “I’m very happy to be returning to the Catalans Dragons, the club where I had the chance to make my Super League debut and experience some incredible moments.
“Three years ago, I thing to leave to discover new experiences, take on new challenges, and continue to grow as a player and as a person. For now, the most important thing is to complete my rehabilitation and return at 100%.
“I can’t wait to see the fans again and give everything for this shirt. Thank you to the club for their confidence. I’m eager to start this new chapter!”
It’s unclear how long Goudemand will remain out but he’ll add plenty of power to the pack when he does return and will certainly put himself in the frame for a contract in 2027.
