Featherstone Rovers release statement after ‘unacceptable’ fan behaviour

Championship side Featherstone Rovers have released a club statement in light of ‘unacceptable’ fan behaviour at their most recent match.

Rovers played Halifax Panthers on Friday night at Post Office Road, winning 32-16 with former Super League man Ben Reynolds racking up 12 points from the tee.

That win drew Featherstone within one point of Fax, who sit sixth, with Rovers currently on a five-game winning streak in the league and soaring up the table.

It’s not all positive at the club though, as highlighted by this latest statement with fans reminded of their conduct on matchdays with an appeal made for information regarding any who acted out of line.

Featherstone took to social media to release a statement which noted the reports of “unacceptable language and behaviour”, asserting their goals to create a family-friendly atmosphere and confirming their ‘zero-tolerance policy towards abuse’.

“Serious action” was also threatened if the allegations are substantiated.

The statement in full read: “The Club is aware of reports concerning the use of unacceptable language and behaviour by some supporters at Friday’s game.

“We have worked extremely hard together with the Blue Wall Voice Group to create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere at the Millennium Stadium. As such, we take these allegations very seriously. We are working closely with our security partner, XTL, to review all available video footage and steward reports to ensure a thorough investigation is carried out.

“The Club has a zero-tolerance policy towards abusive or inappropriate conduct and will take serious action should these allegations be substantiated.”
