After Featherstone Lions confirmed the signings of two former Featherstone Rovers players this week, a third ex-flat capper has joined the club.
Josh Hardcastle has moved directly from the Rovers to the Lions, returning to the club he represented as a youngster.
Gareth Gale retired from the sport at the end of last year, but will also continue to play in the town at a community level.
Linking up with his ex-teammates, forward John Davies is the latest to make the move to the club, after last playing professionally in 2024.
A Castleford academy product, Davies made five appearances in Amber and Black, and spells at York, Dewsbury, Batley and Sheffield established him as a consistent Championship player.
In 2016, he moved to Featherstone, in what was the first of seven seasons at the club. Across his time at Post Office Road, he made 174 appearances, and scored 38 tries.
Following his exit, he moved to Bradford Bulls for one season in 2024, and made another 27 appearances, which gave him a number of 313 career matches.
He will now use all that experience in the amateur game, and link up with Hardcastle and Gale at the Lions, who play in the NCL Yorkshire B division.
