Rugby League fans disagree over Lachlan Lam Super League Dream Team snub

Super League

After the Super League Dream Team was announced last Monday, rugby league fans have had their say on whether they agree or disagree with the selections. Whilst some are happy with the choices, there is one player who fans are unanimous in thinking should have been selected.

That player is Leigh Leopards’ half-back Lachlan Lam, who has had an incredible season so far, racking up an incredible 42 assists – the most of any player in the competition. The 27-year-old has been one of the best and most creative players in the league this season, with fans agreeing he should have made the Dream Team squad.

However, he was left out of the selections in favour of Leeds Rhinos’ Jake Connor and Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis. Lam has since helped guide the Leopards to the play-off semi-finals, teeing up a game against Wigan Warriors with the Leigh playmaker bagging an assist and a 40/20 in that game.

We asked Serious About RL viewers on our Facebook page their thoughts on his omission, and whilst there were some disagreements, the consensus was generally one of confusion as to how he was overlooked.

John Garner: Had an Excellent Season. Should have been in Dream Team.

Steve Gascoyne: Yes best Half Back in Super League he’s got a edge to him that makes him even better. He’s top drawer box office and most people can see it when you study him. Elite in my opinion and he’s welcome at Trinity anytime!!!

Steven Richardson: He’s played 27/27 in the league & had try or an assist in 25 of those games so yes he should be in there over Lewis, I’m not saying he’s better that Lewis but on consistency alone should be in.

Gareth Hill: I’m a big Lewis fan but Lachlan Lam has been better all season.

Paul Mace: Very surprised he isn’t it, he is the reason for Leigh’s great season.

Barrie Lamprell: Yes, Lokkie has been consistently the best half over the course of the season.

As pointed out by some viewers, there were only two spots up for grabs meaning that someone had to go home empty handed.

Christopher Thornton: No he does have the highest assists but fails to take those chances himself. I had any 2 of Lewis Connor and French despite his injury and Lam in 4th.

Wilbur Jarvis: If he got picked ahead of Connor or Lewis, the same question would be asked about them. He’s a quality player but someone had to miss out!

Ian Wormald: Who misses out though – yes he deserves to be in but for who as Lewis and Connor deserve to be in as well. I’d have no problem if any of these 3 or even French got in as he’s shown that he will carry the others at Wigan to the line and maybe get over it

Lewis creates and scores plenty , also he is a far better kicker than Lam . He would be in England team every time. His running would frighten the Aussies.

People have to make tough choices, as you cannot fit everyone in. The more serious question would be if someone was in there, at the expense of someone who deserved to be. Can anyone deny that the thirteen selections have an awful lot of merit?
