Rugby League fans from all different clubs have given their verdict on the news that Salford Red Devils will go into liquidation.
The Red Devils have been forced to fold as a entity in it’s current state, but have the chance to re-birth as a phoenix club, should a new ownership group decide to take them over.
Salford were due to compete in the Championship in 2026, following their relegation from Super League. Despite fixtures for the second tier competition being released earlier this week, there will have to be some sort of changes to the scheduling to accommodate their exit from the division.
Whilst a wealth of rugby league clubs have rallied round Salford, showing their support, a number of fans have too, with a range of supporters from a variety of clubs offering words of support and encouragement.
The RL community is always superb when it comes to looking after one of it’s own, as we have seen on many occasions over the years. Today is no different, with many fans commenting on Salford-related articles made by Serious About RL on Facebook giving their opinion on the matter.
Philip Bradbury:Â Have been a Swinton supporter in the sixties watching some of the best players I was heart broken to see the demise of a great club now another great club Salford has gone the same way I am a avid supporter of rugby league and hope Salford can return to great days but Swinton never did what a shame for a city like Salford not having a top team.
Phil Thompson:Â So very sad. The so-called new owners have a lot to answer for. Saints fan.
Michael Smith:Â Oldham rlfc are with you Salford always
Sandra Carr Rugolotto:Â From a Keighley fan, rebuild stronger, better and more prosperous. RFL family are behind you.
Nick Taylor:Â It is sad to see this for the true die hard Salford fans and the solidarity we had at Hull FC with them last season. Onwards and upwards hopefully!!
Bev Hurrell: Feel for all the Salford fans very sad day for the club and rugby league (Rhinos fan)
Mark Donlon:Â Sad day for Rugby League. Cas fan.
David Jones: Solidarity with the Salford fans from a Sheffield Eagles fan. We know what it’s like to have to start a club again from nothing.
Terry Ferrari:Â As a Wigan fan, it’s heartbreaking to see this unfold for such a proud club. Putting allegiances to one side, we are all members of the same RL family, we want our sport and clubs to thrive. Rise up Salford, newer, stronger and better placed. Best wishes for all the fans, from ALL the RL family
Mark Holmes: So sad to hear this but from the ashes Salford will come back. As a Bulls fan I have been EXACTLY where Salford fans are and it’s the supporters who aren’t going anywhere and stick with THEIR team whatever. Fingers crossed the comeback starts now
