Ex-Wigan Warriors and Hull KR forward signs new deal with Super League side

Former Hull KR, Castleford Tigers and Wigan Warriors prop Mitch Clark has given Super League newcomers York Knights a pre-season boost by signing a new full-time contract.

The 32 year-old has committed to a second season with York after joining them from Sheffield Eagles last February.

Clark, a former Junior Kiwi international, is son of ex-Leeds, Bradford Northern and Featherstone Rovers hooker Trevor Clark.

He made 15 appearances for the Knights in an injury-hit campaign last year, scoring one try during a Championship win at Hunslet.

Clark also featured for York on dual-registration in  2017 and has played for clubs including Bradford Bulls, Featherstone Rovers and Doncaster.

Mitch Clark on re-signing for Super League new boys

“I’m super excited for the challenge ahead,” Clark said. “I have loved my first year at the club.

“It’s a great group of lads and staff and with a full pre-season under my belt working with Mash [team boss Mark Applegarth] and the coaching team, I’m looking forward to getting to work, giving it my all, and building on what we achieved last season.”

Applegarth added: “We knew what we were getting with Mitch, an experienced operator, but more importantly for me, he’s an absolutely champion guy.

“He brings a lot of calmness to the group, speaks a lot of sense when he speaks and, more importantly, he demands a high standard from himself and the people around him and he’s not scared about being honest about that.”
