Ex-Tottenham manager and former Leeds United and Chelsea star amongst special guests at London Broncos opening fixture

London Broncos kicked off their new era with an emphatic victory, and did so in the company of some famous faces.

The Broncos, now owned by Darren Lockyer and Grant Wechsel, showed their class in the second half as they ran in five tries in the final 40 to secure a 44-12 win over Widnes Vikings.

A total of five players scored on debut for their new club, including centre Alex Max who crossed twice in the win.

Reagan Campbell-Gillard was also on the scoresheet, as was Dean Hawkins. The pair both signed from the NRL this off-season, in huge coups for the club.

A crowd of over 4,300 watched on as they clinched their first league win of the season, and part of that crowd was made up of some famous faces from the sporting world.

Former England rugby union star James Haskell was already announced to attend, with the ex-British and Irish Lion on DJ duties, a career he has ventured into since retirement.

Social media personality ‘Big John’ was also in attendance, with the internet celebrity also filming videos with the squad in the build up to the game.

After releasing photos from the hospitality area post-match, London also invited along former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Aussie was last in charge of Nottingham Forest, but has been out of work since his departure in October.

Also in attendance was former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, with the ex-Leeds and Chelsea star pictured with Lockyer and Wechsel after the game.

London are doing all they can to try and grow the game in the capital, and bringing in famous sporting figures will go a long way in helping that.
