Ex-Leeds Rhinos centre Paul Momirovski has made the decision to hang up his boots and call time on his playing days.
Momirovski was released by the Rhinos at the end of the 2024 Super League campaign after just one season. He moved on to join French side Lezignan for the remainder of the Super XIII season with his debut for the club coming in January.
However, he has made just nine appearances for the club and has now decided to bring the curtain down on a career that saw him win the NRL Grand Final. That success came in the colours of Penrith Panthers in 2021, with Momirovski spending just one season with the club after spells with Sydney Roosters, Wests Tigers and Melbourne Storm.
He moved on to join the Roosters once more in 2022, and played 22 times in two years before joining Leeds. He scored seven tries in 24 appearances in the blue and amber of Leeds with doubles coming against Castleford Tigers and Huddersfield Giants.
Momirovski struggled for consistent form, though, and as Brad Arthur planned for the 2025 Super League campaign, he was ultimately released before the end of his contract.
Ex-Leeds Rhinos’ Paul Momirovski confirms retirement
Confirming his decision to retire at the age of just 28, Momirovski wrote on social media: “That’s a wrap.
“After years of chasing this dream, it’s time to hang it up. Grateful for every team that took a chance on me, every teammate I’ve had, and all the lessons this game taught me.
“Thanks for the memories @sydneyroosters @penrithpanthers@storm @nrl_weststigers @leedsrhinos@lezignan13 — excited (and a little nervous) for whatever’s next.”
Speaking to TBR Rugby League in January, Momirovski reflected on his time at Leeds as a player: “I really enjoyed my time at Leeds. It’s a great city. The people at the club were great.
“The boys were great. I made some really good friendships that I feel like I will keep for a long time. I want to wish them all the best.
“I will always look back at that time fondly. I think I learned a lot as a player and learned a lot as a person. And then obviously getting to work under Rohan and Brad, you know, you get to see two different coaches operate as well.
“Just for me, my experience is only going to help in the future. By being under more coaches I’ve learned more about the game from different people. So, it will always be positive and like I said the relationships I’ve built along the way I’ll cherish.”
