Wigan Warriors have locked in another key piece of their puzzle with England international half-back Harry Smith signing a contract extension to remain at the club till the end of 2030, but what of the contract status for the remainder of their squad?
Kris Radlinski has been a busy man in recent years when offering out contract extensions and that’s meant that a large portion of the core playing group are tied down long-term with just three players currently off-contract, one of whom has signed elsewhere for 2027 anyway.
Head coach Matt Peet, as well as assistants Sean O’Loughlin and Tommy Leuluai, are also tied down long-term with the trio committed to Wigan Warriors until the end of 2030.
Whilst a number of the club’s young emerging talents have unknown contracts, including rising star Jack Farrimond, we’ve pieced together the contract status of the current first-team squad.
Only players handed a squad number at the start of the season have been listed meaning plenty of the academy players who featured against Hull KR are not listed, though their contracts would also be unknown as well.

Wigan Warriors current contract situation
2026: Patrick Mago*, Tiaki Chan and Sam Eseh*
It’s been confirmed that Sam Eseh will leave the club to sign with Bradford Bulls at the end of the year whilst Tiaki Chan may also leave, having generally been loaned out in recent years. There is an option to extend the contract of Patrick Mago and given how valuable he is, that may well be taken but cap space is of course an issue.
2027: Abbas Miski, Ethan Havard, Jai Field*, Kruise Leeming, Liam Farrell, Luke Thompson, Finn McMillan
The 2027 crop of contracted players features some interesting names with Kruise Leeming currently out on loan, whilst Wigan have admitted that Abbas Miski will not play in 2026 due to the salary cap. Jai Field also has extension options for 2028 and 2029, whilst captain Liam Farrell will turn 37 next July so could be coming to the end of his career.
2028: Adam Keighran, Bevan French, Liam Marshall, Zach Eckersley
Adam Keighran extended his contract last summer, whilst Liam Marshall signed a four-year extension late in 2024. Star man Bevan French is also tied down whilst the club may even want to extend Zach Eckersley given just how special he has been in his young career.
2029: Brad O’Neill, Dayon Sambou, Jake Wardle, Jonny Vaughan, Kaide Ellis, Oliver Wilson, Sam Walters
Off-season signings Dayon Sambou, Jonny Vaughan and Oliver Wilson all signed long-term deals with Wilson set to be like a new signing in 2027 given the fact he’s not played all year due to injury. England hooker Brad O’Neill has been playing lights out in 2026 so Wigan will be pleased he’s locked in long term, whilst Sam Walters was another they tied down last summer.
2030: Harry Smith, Junior Nsemba, Oliver Partington, Tom Forber
Harry Smith becomes the latest to sign a long-term deal and he joins star forwards Junior Nsemba and Oliver Partington in that club. Hooker Tom Forber, at 23, has been loaned out earlier this season but is currently behind the in-form O’Neill for the dummy-half role.
Unknown: Finlay Yeomans, George O’Loughlin, Harvey Makin, Jack Farrimond, Kian McDermott, Lukas Mason, Nathan Lowe, Noah Hodkinson, Taylor Kerr
Expect plenty of these names to sign similar or perhaps even longer deals than what Harry Smith has signed. All of this crop are recently out of the academy where they will have likely signed two to three-year first-team deals but Wigan will be eager to secure them long-term, particularly the likes of Jack Farrimond and Taylor Kerr, the latter of whom captained the club against Hull KR.
