There is a cliche saying across all sports, that is ‘you have to win your home games’ and we’ve examined how each Super League side has been doing in that metric across the last few seasons, up to and including Round 14 of this current campaign.
Making your home venue a fortress and making opposition teams scared to come and play you at your ground is tricky to achieve but a huge factor in the outcome of big matches.
Since 2021, when the game returned fully after Covid and teams got to play back at their home ground instead of selected stadiums due to protocols, current Super League teams have had varied success when playing at their homestead.
Here is every team ranked by their win percentage when playing on home soil over the last four and a half seasons.
Every Super League team’s home record since 2021
12th – Hull FC: P54 W20 D2 L32 – 37.03%
The MKM Stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for the Black and Whites, after just 20 wins from 53 attempts. This season, the Airlie Birds have hosted teams five times so far, and are yet to record a victory on home turf.
11th – Castleford Tigers: P59 W23 D0 L36 – 38.98%
Like Hull FC, the Tigers have been poor when playing on their own ground. The Jungle is known for it’s short distance from the stands to the pitch, which creates a feeling that the fans are almost on top of the players. Castleford have failed to use this to their advantage however, and this season have won just two of their seven matches at home.
10th – Huddersfield Giants: P60 W27 D0 L33 – 45.00%
The Giants’ home record, like their seasons gone by, is very turbulent. In 2022, the lost just once at home from 13 matches, whereas this year they are zero from seven. Chairman Ken Davy has plans for Huddersfield to move out of the John Smith’s stadium, let’s hope for Giants’ fans sake it brings a better home record with it too.
9th Wakefield Trinity: P44 W20 D0 L24 – 45.45%
Trinity are the first team in this list to not compete in all five seasons covered, after being relegated in 2024. There seems to be a new life and hunger at Wakefield this season, but if they are to compete for playoffs, their home record needs to improve.
8th – Leigh Leopards: P42 W21 D1 L20 – 50%
The only team to have a record at exactly 50%, the Leopards spent 2022 in the Championship, meaning they join Wakefield in having played less games than the rest. The Leopards have won eight games from 13 in the two seasons prior to 2025.
7th – Salford Red Devils: P56 W32 D0 L24 – 57.14%
Despite only winning one game from a possible five this season, Salford have done very well in making the AJ Bell Stadium a tough place for teams to go. Last year, they won 11 of 13 games, losing to Wigan on both occasions.
6th – Warrington Wolves: P56 W33 D0 L23 – 58.93%
2022 was the only season that Warrington didn’t have a positive win record at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. After seven games this year, the Wire have won four, which include victories over Leeds Rhinos and St Helens.
5th – Leeds Rhinos: P59 W36 D1 L22 – 61.01%
Leeds have won roughly three in every five home matches since 2021, as they look to build their way back to being a regular top four side. The Rhinos are one of, if not the best supported teams in the league at home and AMT Headingley is said to be one of the best grounds in the league for atmosphere. It is a wonder how Leeds haven’t capitalised more on making their opponents feel unwelcome and getting those crucial victories in tight games.
4th – Hull KR: P55 W40 D0 L15 – 72.72%
The new Challenge Cup holders have made Craven Park their own in the last couple of years, losing only three matches there since the start of 2024.
The Robins have become a regular playoff competitor in recent years, and this is down to their ability to grind out and emerge victorious the tough matches. This can be put down to the Rovers faithful getting behind their team and creating that ‘18th man’ to help them get over the line.
3rd – Catalans Dragons: – P57 W42 D0 L15 – 73.68%
Be it the travel time, heat or the passionate French fans, Perpignan and the Stade Gilbert Brutus has always been a tricky place to go and get a victory.
Each season from 2022-2024, Les Dracs won 10 of 13 matches, and with records like that, they were always going to be in and around the playoff spots. However, this year they have won just three of seven, and will need to turn their home form around if they want to compete at the end of the season.
2nd – St Helens: P55 W43 D0 L12 – 78.18%
Even when the Saints are not in their best form, playing at the Totally Wicked Stadium is a difficult task for anyone. Their home form was crucial to their four-peat title success, as they dominated teams on home turf.
1st – Wigan Warriors: P58 W49 D0 L9 – 84.48%
Nine losses in four and a half Super League seasons. This is a stat that goes heavily under the radar, especially when you consider five of those were in 2021. The Warriors went unbeaten at the Brick Community stadium in 2022, before two defeats in 2023 and one defeat in 2024 and 2025. There is a reason the reigning champions are as successful as they are, and it is down to their strong performances at home and ability to scare their opponents off the pitch.
