Every Super League club’s current injury list with key men missing across the competition

Super League

We’ve reached the halfway point of the Super League season and it’s fair to say most players will be feeling battered and bruised.

The last two weeks will have provided some welcome respite for those not competing in the Challenge Cup final and head coaches will be hoping their players are revitalised as they prepare for the second half of the season.

There are a host of stars missing through injury though, and with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at every Super League club’s injury list and expected return dates ahead of Round 14.

Super League injury rundown

Castleford Tigers:

Danny McGuire has confirmed Tex Hoy will miss the next three-four weeks with a calf injury.

Youngster Fletcher Rooney remains sidelined with a quadricep injury he picked up in March. The fullback is ahead of schedule, with initial reports expecting him back at the end of July. McGuire also said in his press conference he will be back sooner than that, with the 19-year-old potentially playing a reserves game in the next few weeks.

Jeremiah Simbiken (knee) and Jason Qareqare (hamstring) are all still recovering from their expected injuries.

Catalans Dragons:

Theo Fages is not included in the Dragons’ 21-man squad to face Hull KR, and neither is Elliott Whitehead. The latter pulled up in the warm up against Hull FC two weeks ago.

Matthieu Laguerre is back in contention after being stood down on concussion protocols.

Paul Seguier, Jordan Dezaria and Fouad Yaha are also absent from the 21.

Huddersfield Giants:

Matty English returns to the initial 21, whilst Aidan McGowan, Fenton Rogers and Liam Sutcliffe all remain in the medical room.

Niall Evalds is recovering from a fractured metatarsal, and if he stays on track, he will be back at the end of July.

Hull FC:

John Cartwright has confirmed that star fullback Will Pryce will miss the next 8-10 weeks with a hamstring problem. He picked up the injury in the final play of the game in the victory over Catalans.

John Asiata and Jed Cartwright also have hamstring injuries, with the former looking at a prolonged period of 10-12 weeks on the sidelines. Jordan Lane is still pushing to return from a broken arm, while Ligi Sao will miss the season.

Hull KR:

Willie Peters stated in his pre-match press conference this week that Michael McIlorum and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves should not have featured in last week’s Challenge Cup final.

Hooker McIlorum is still recovering from a ruptured bicep and will need three more weeks to be back fit. JWH has a calf injury and will be out for the next month.

Joe Burgess will miss this weekend’s clash with Catalans but will be back for the week after. Rhyse Martin is recovering from surgery on his quad and is expected back in July.

Oliver Gildart is the Rovers’ only other long-term absentee as the centre will miss the next few months with a knee problem.

Leeds Rhinos:

Hooker Andy Ackers is named and expected to feature against Warrington this weekend, after a hamstring injury has ruled him out since March.

Star fullback Lachie Miller was taken off the field at half time in the Rhinos win over Wakefield, however the club have confirmed the injury is not as serious as first thought and he has also been named in the initial 21 for Saturday.

Youngster Alfie Edgell could also come back into contention this weekend.

Max Simpson and Ben Littlewood are both back to doing on-field training. The pair have suffered long-term injuries that, in the case of Simpson, have kept him out for over two years.

Maika Sivo is out for the season with an ACL injury.

Leigh Leopards:

Ethan O’Neill suffered a fractured cheekbone in the Super League game against Hull FC.

Should Gareth O’Brien pass the concussion return to play protocols, he will be back available for selection.

Salford Red Devils:

Jayden Nikorima and Ethan Ryan are both out long-term with knee injuries.

Chris Hill, Shane Wright and Joe Mellor could all return this week, whilst Nene MacDonald has taken unpaid leave to return to Australia.

St Helens:

Jack Welsby and Lewis Murphy both suffered injuries against Hull KR, with Welsby looking at four months out and Murphy two months.

Mark Percival will be out for 5-6 weeks with an ankle injury, but there is good news for the Saints as Kyle Feldt and Joe Batchelor are close to returning.

Wakefield Trinity:

Renouf Atoni (calf), Caleb Hamlin-Uele (arm), Ky Rodwell (knee), and Jake Trueman (back) are the injury concerns facing Daryl Powell this week.

Warrington Wolves:

Wire flyer Matty Ashton and Oli Leyland are both out for the remainder of the season with ACL injuries.

Matt Dufty fractured his eye socket in the Challenge Cup Final and will be out for an extended period.

Danny Walker is still 1-2 months away from returning after a knee injury at Magic Weekend.

Wigan Warriors:

Two Warriors props remain on the sidelines as Sam Walters will spend the next three months recovering from a fractured fibula and Luke Thompson heals from broken ribs. Both injuries occurred in the away victory over Catalans Dragons two weeks ago.

Abbas Miski will be out for another month whilst he recovers from knee surgery.
