The 2026 Super League season is fast approaching, and with pre-season in full swing for most teams, attention turns to how the squads will look going into the new campaign.
One thing that Super League and the NRL differ on is squad numbers. with the English game electing each player a number before the season starts that they will then wear over the course of the year.
The NRL, meanwhile, use jerseys 1-17 each week in order to identify the positions each person is playing in. That rule changes, though, when it comes to representative rugby, with the likes of State of Origin and Pacific Championships adopting squad numbers and names on jerseys in recent years.
So far, only a handful of clubs in the Northern Hemisphere have released their squad numbers, with Warrington Wolves becoming the first team to do so at the start of November.
