Super League

Every club’s current highest Super League appearance maker including Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and St Helens veterans

Super League Ryan Hall Jonny Lomax Tom Johnstone

Super League is rich in history when it comes to legends of the competition, with every fan having that one player that made you fall in love with the sport or the club.

Each fanbase has their own cult heroes, be that for their impressive talent, bold personality or simply the longevity in which they stayed in the team.

The likes of Rob Burrow, Danny Houghton and Leroy Cudjoe are some of the Northern Hemisphere’s greatest ever players, with all of them sticking with just one team throughout their career.

Unlike in some sports, longevity is a word that can be utilised in rugby league, with many of our players remaining at one club for long periods of time.

To make a successful team, there needs to be a balance between emerging talent, consistent players and those with experience that can guide their teammates through adversity and come out on the other side better off.

Experience is the factor we are focusing on, and we have taken a look at which player has the most Super League appearances with their current club.

Some players are obvious, and some less so, be that due to the club’s minimal experience in Super League or otherwise

The current highest appearance maker at each Super League club

As a caveat, appearances are based on Super League only, with stats taken from Rugby League Project.

Bradford Bulls: James Donaldson* – 73

Donaldson returned to the club in 2025, following a six-year stint at Leeds Rhinos and four seasons at Hull KR before that.

He is currently the only member of the squad that has played for the Bulls in the top flight, after coming through the system in 2009.

It is unconfirmed whether he will stay at the club upon their return, with the 33-year-old suffering an ACL injury in the summer.

Castleford Tigers: Joe Westerman* – 171

Another player who is yet to be confirmed for 2026, Westerman is a Castleford stalwart, and made his Super League debut back in 2008.

He won the Super League’s Young Player of the Year award that year, and stayed at the Tigers until the end of 2010.

Moves to Warrington, Hull FC, Toronto and Wakefield came in his career, before he re-joined the club in 2022.

Catalans Dragons: Julian Bousquet – 274

The French forward has been such a key part of the Dragons’ rise to become one of Super League’s biggest clubs.

Whilst the 2025 season didn’t go to plan, Bousquet has been involved in 14 of Les Dracs’ 20 seasons in the top flight, and featured in the 2018 Challenge Cup Final win, as well as the 2021 and 2023 Grand Final defeats.

Huddersfield Giants: Matty English – 135

Leroy Cudjoe would have been at the top of the Giants’ list, and by some distance, too. The club legend made 371 appearances for the Fartown-based side, before retiring at the end of the season.

Next in line is prop forward English, who made his debut in 2017.

Hull FC: Brad Fash – 177

Fash has been awarded a testimonial year by the RFL for his services to the Black and Whites, and it’s clear to see why.

He may not be regular starter in John Cartwright’s side, the 29-year-old has been a brilliant servant to the club, and is currently in the third year of a three-year deal he signed back in 2023.

Behind him ever so slightly is Tom Briscoe, who has just three less appearances in Super League than the man with the best hairstyle in rugby league – or worst, depending on how you look at it.

Hull KR: Jez Litten – 139

Litten is arguably the best hooker in the competition, and is such an integral part of the Robins side.

Joining from Hull FC in 2019, he has made the number nine spot his own, and has developed hugely in his time at Craven Park.

The 27-year-old is currently fifth in KR’s Super League appearance makers, and is 27 behind leader Kris Welham. After signing a long-term deal earlier this year, Litten is almost certainly going to surpass that and become the club’s new highest appearance maker.

Leeds Rhinos: Ryan Hall – 306

Super League’s top try scorer also tops the chart for most appearances, and is the first player in this list to surpass 300.

Hall spent time in the NRL and at Hull KR, so his Leeds total isn’t as high at some may expect. In terms of career appearances, the winger sits on 521, with over 40 of those coming for England.

Leigh Leopards: Lachlan Lam – 85

The Leigh star has been crucial to the club’s rise since their re-brand in 2022. Joining the club half way through that season, Lam has become one of the league’s best attacking players, and notched up over 40 assists in the 2025 campaign.

He is currently on a 60-game appearance streak, the longest of anyone in the English game. He last missed a match in round five of 2024.

St Helens: Jonny Lomax – 343

The Saints veteran is set to head into a 18th season at the club, after making his debut in 2009.

The signing of Jackson Hasting’s puts his role next year in doubt, with some suggesting he may transition to the ’14’ role that Moses Mbye played in last year.

Regardless, Lomax is one of Saints’ Super League legends, and will go down as one as one of their most successful players of the modern era, after picking up four Grand Finals and a Challenge Cup.

Toulouse Olympique: Olly Ashall-Bott – 24

The full-back makes the list after featuring in 24 of the club’s 27 Super League matches in 2022, in what is the only other time they have reached the top flight.

Whilst they do have other players in the squad with far more appearances in the top division, Ashall-Bott currently has the most with the Olympians, and he will be looking to add to that tally next year.

Wakefield Trinity: Tom Johnstone – 129

Returning to the club in 2025 after a spell at Catalans, Johnstone ranks 13th on the club’s highest SL appearance makers, with teammate Max Jowitt just two appearances behind him.

He is by far and away the club’s highest try scorer in the division though, crossing 92 times. Ben Jeffries is second highest, he ended his Trinity career with 70.

Warrington Wolves: Ben Currie – 277

Currie has seen his position switched from the back row to loose forward over the past season or so, but his importance to the team remains just as high.

Making his debut in 2012, the 31-year-old ranks fifth on the all-time Warrington list, and needs 116 more appearances to overtake Ben Westwood, who sits top.

Wigan Warriors: Liam Farrell – 362

Warriors skipper Farrell has the most appearances of any player in the league at a singular club, after a stunning 16 seasons at the Cherry and Whites.

The back-rower has no signs of slowing down though, and has a contract with Wigan until the end of 2027.

In his career, he has won six Super League titles, four Challenge Cups and a World Club Challenge.

York Knights: None

Next year will be York’s first season in Super League, meaning none of their players have previously represented the club in the division.

However, after bringing in signings such as Paul Vaughan and Josh Griffin, the North Yorkshire outfit have a well-balanced squad of those who have plenty of experience, and some unproven talents waiting for their time to shine.
