The awards for the men’s, women’s and wheelchair rugby league golden boot have been revealed, with one England star taking home one of the trophies.
Awarded to the best players on the international stage across the year, last year saw Australia’s Isaah Yeo and Tarryn Aiken, whilst England’s Rob Hawkins all be victorious in their respective categories.
This year, Halifax Panthers’ wheelchair star, Hawkins has become the first player, in any form of the award, to win it back-to-back, after being revealed as the world’s best wheelchair rugby league player.
The 2022 Wheels of Steel helped his nation to a tour whitewash whilst in Australia last month, as he scored tries in all four matches. The tour was revolved around England playing an Ashes series against the Wheelaroos, in which they won 2-0, whilst also taking victory in fixtures against New South Wales and Queensland.
Hawkins crossed for a huge 11 tries across the games, and kicked five goals. He beat out fellow international teammates Nathan Collins and Jack Brown to the trophy, with Australia pair Bayley McKenna and Zac Schumacher, and Ireland’s Joseph Calcott making up the finalists.

Rugby League Golden Boot winners announced
In the men’s category, Australia’s Harry Grant took home the top prize, edging out New Zealand half-back Dylan Brown in a tight selection process. He starred in all three Ashes fixtures against England, and was influential to their strong performances and dominant victories.
Cameron Munster won the Fulton-Reilly award for Player of the Series, however he could only make the finalists, as could the aforementioned Brown, Joseph Tapine 9New Zealand) and Payne Haas (Samoa)
In the women’s game, it was another Australia star that walked away from the evening victorious, with Jillaroos winger Julia Robinson emerging successful. A player in all four of the nation’s international matches this year, she was the unanimous choice in the selection process. She also scored one of the tries of the year, with an audacious catch to score against Samoa.
