Dates and broadcast picks for Challenge Cup Second Round confirmed as all-Championship clash set for BBC coverage

Challenge Cup

The full details for the Challenge Cup Second Round have been confirmed, as teams from the community game and the Championship come together for a chance to play Super League opposition.

There are 18 ties being played across the weekend, with teams from Wales, London, Cumbria and all across England hoping for a chance to progress to the next round.

One team who won’t be playing this weekend, but will be in the Third Round is Castleford-based amateur side, Lock Lane, who were due to play Featherstone Rovers this weekend but due to the Rovers’ rejection from the competition, they will receive a bye.

As well as all the dates and times, the broadcast picks have also been confirmed, and like in previous seasons, the BBC will show one match every round up to and including the Final, which will be held on May 30 at Wembley Stadium.

This week, the BBC cameras will be at the Steel City Stadium, as they cover Sheffield Eagles’ tie with Whitehaven. One of three all-Championship ties, the pair actually faced each other in the opening round of the league campaign on Sunday, where Sheffield emerged as 11-4 winners.

The Sportsman will also cover a game this weekend, though they’re yet to confirm where they will be broadcasting from.
