Daryl Powell’s verdict after Wigan Warriors defeat as Wakefield Trinity dealt major injury blows including Oliver Pratt and Mason Lino

Wakefield Trinity boss Daryl Powell has offered his verdict on this evening’s 48-10 defeat to Wigan Warriors.

Powell’s side would score just two tries, with those coming from Matty Storton and Tom Johnstone – the latter being a consolation.

“I thought Wigan were awesome,” the Trinity boss said in his first words to the press. “[It was] a really poor performance, that’s all I’ve got to say really, I just think we’ve got to learn some lessons from it.

Dissecting what went wrong in particular, the boss added: “I thought it was all Wigan. I just thought they completely dominated the game and they’ve been playing that way for a few weeks now, and they continued in that vein of form.

“I don’t think we really did that much to stop it, and it was just ‘it is what it is.’

“It’s a game we’ve not turned up at. We’ve got beaten in every facet of the game. We just have to put it behind us, move on.

Wakefield Trinity injury update as boss reveals Oliver Pratt blow

To add a further blow, Jayden Myers suffered an injury in the first half and wouldn’t return after the break. He suffered a knock to his A/C joint in his shoulder, forcing him to miss the remainder of the game.

Powell also provided more clarity on other injured bodies in the squad, including Mason Lino, who could miss up to six weeks with a calf issue.

In addition, Oliver Pratt is set for around two months on the sidelines, whilst Josh Rourke is also set for a spell out of the side, though he won’t be out for as long.
