Rugby League News: Connor problem, Castleford rejected for Hull KR, Tony Smith’s new club & Koukash’s return to shock club?

It has been a busy 24 hours with major stories breaking from Super League and the NRL.

Here is a round-up of everything that has happened…

Connor big decision

It’s safe to say that Hull FC head coach Brett Hodgson was unhappy with his side’s performance in their thrashing by Castleford Tigers last Friday night. Hodgson went in on his side and revealed a big decision on maverick Jake Connor. Read more here.

Star collapses

League Express has revealed that Toulouse Olympique star Olly Ashall-Bott collapsed after his side’s loss against Salford Red Devils on Saturday. Toulouse boss Sylvain Houles said: “Olly was suffering from exhaustion; the conditions were very hot and he had worked very hard in the match.”

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara has also slammed Huddersfield Giants of ‘disrespect’ following comments made in an IMG meeting, whilst Leeds Rhinos CEO has launched a staunch defence of French rugby league.

Poching wants rule change

Wakefield Trinity boss Willie Poching went in on this rule following his side’s 13-12 heartbreaking loss to St Helens yesterday.

Wakefield were winning for most of the game before Saints put on a late rally. Read more here.

SL Team of the Week

Following the weekend’s action, Serious About Rugby League has revealed its Team of the Week.

Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers and St Helens dominated as Saints extended their ascendancy at the top of Super League. Read more here.

Qareqare’s new club

Castleford Tigers star Jason Qareqare has found a new club for the short-term future after appearing in a number of games for the Tigers in 2022.

Qareqare burst onto the scene in 2021, but would have been hoping for more game time in 2022. Read more here.

Flanagan turned down SL

Bradford Bulls’ teenage sensation George Flanagan Jnr has told Rugby League Live that he turned down Super League interest.

The teenager is the son of veteran hooker George Flanagan who took to the field at the weekend.

Hardaker’s future

Leeds Rhinos star Zak Hardaker’s future has revealed as having a bizarre Hull FC link in there.

Hardaker rejoined Leeds earlier this year after leaving the Wigan Warriors to be nearer home. Read more here.

Former Wakefield Trinity and Hull FC star Danny Brough has found a shock new coaching role.

Could Leeds Rhinos man Max Simpson be out for the rest of the season?

Former Castleford Tigers forward Jacques O’Neill has seemingly confirmed his next move.

Huddersfield Giants are in for a major Super League rival, according to head coach Ian Watson.

Leeds lose man to rivals

Leeds Rhinos have lost one of their forwards to Wakefield Trinity with Willie Poching’s side under relegation pressure. Meanwhile, the Rhinos are continuing their recruitment drive with that of James McDonnell from the Wigan Warriors. Read more here.

Castleford Tigers have been rejected for Hull KR in what was a major deal for a ‘wonderkid.’

Sky Sports pundits Jon Wilkin and Jon Wells have slammed a bizarre decision that occurred over the weekend.
