Championship side Oldham RLFC officially have new owners, with two former players agreeing to take over the club.
A consortium headed up by Martin Hall and Terry Flanagan MBE will now lead the Roughyeds, who have had their fair share of financial issues and stadium problems throughout the start of 2026.
Hall is a former Oldham player, and featured for the club between 1986 and 1989, before joining Rochdale, Wigan, Castleford, Halifax and Hull later in his career. He is also a seven-time Welsh international.
Flanagan, meanwhile, is a club legend, and represented the Roughyeds throughout the 1980’s before moving to Swinton at the end of his career.
A former GB international, he played for his nation four times, and made close to 300 Oldham appearances in his career.
As a result of the takeover, current shareholders Mike Ford and James Minton leave the club, with Ford especially working wonders for the side in recent years, with his help allowing them to go from League One to the Championship play-offs in just a couple of years.
Also departing is former chairman Bill Quinn, whose support and financial contribution has also been vital in their rise up the divisions.
The new consortium have received excellent support from the RFL, Oldham Council and Oldham Athletic, and will look to develop the existing relationships with stakeholders going forward.
The club have also confirmed that an end has been put to the stadium saga, with the Roughyeds set to play the remainder of their 2026 home fixtures at Boundary Park, as opposed to Stalybridge FC, or in this week’s case, Dewsbury.
