London Broncos survived a scare to keep their unbeaten start to the Championship season ongoing as they came from behind to beat Doncaster.
Jason Demetriou’s side are yet to taste defeat in the Championship this year but with just over five minutes remaining, they were looking down the barrel of that first loss.
Captain Reagan Campbell-Gillard started the fightback as he scored in the 70th minute to make it 16-12 but three quickfire tries from Morea Morea, Dean Hawkins and Luke Smith ensured London won 30-16 as they showed their class.
What’s interesting is that London and Doncaster will face off in the 1895 Cup quarter-finals in the coming weeks meaning we could see yet another first-class game.
The Broncos have furthered their lead atop the Championship with that win but a number of clubs have kept the pace.
Widnes ran riot at home against Halifax Panthers as Joe Edge and Ryan Ince both scored hat-tricks in a dominant 54-0 win with Oldham also being impressive home victors, beating Workington 74-4 in a 13-try win.
Sheffield Eagles were another side to keep pace as they won 38-26 at home to Salford RLFC with Craig Lingard’s side snapping a run of three defeats in all competitions.
Large-margin wins came for Dewsbury Rams and Batley Bulldogs with the two Yorkshire clubs winning comfortably against Rochdale Hornets and Goole Vikings respectively, whilst Hunslet beat Whitehaven 30-10 on the road in another impressive win that makes it three in a row in the league for the Yorkshire club.
Swinton Lions and Keighley Cougars played out a 22-22 draw with Keighley scoring in the corner in the 79th minute but ultimately being unable to convert the try and secure the win.
There was also one game played on Saturday as Newcastle Thunder continued their good form to land a very impressive win at home against high-flying Barrow Raiders. Prior to that, Paul Crarey’s side had only lost to Sheffield Eagles in the Championship with the Cumbrian outfit on a five-game winning run before Thunder’s win.

Which result sticks out?
A few actually. Newcastle’s win, Doncaster’s effort, Swinton’s tie with Keighley, and Salford’s effort.
Exciting times ahead.
