Another round of the Championship is in the books and there’s a familiar story atop the table as London Broncos won again but one team is keeping the pressure on Jason Demetriou’s side.
The Broncos are yet to lose a game this season and they’re breaking records near enough every week but this week was quieter by their standards, but still mightily impressive as London knocked off challengers Doncaster with relative ease.
London won 68-16 to extend their winning run and their PNG stars shone once again with Gairo Voro scoring a brace, five short of his incredible seven that he scored last week, whilst Finley Glare also scored two.
Both players have signed deals with PNG Hunters for 2028 and their class is certainly showing in the second tier.
Whilst London’s winning streak is incredible, Oldham aren’t doing too bad themselves with the Roughyeds winning their 14th consecutive game when they beat Halifax this weekend. Former St Helens man Ben Davies picked up two tries with Oldham four points back, sat in third.
Newcastle are the team ahead of them, albeit level on points, with Thunder winning against fourth-plsce Barrow this weekend in a massive win between those near the top of the table.
The Raiders are now vulnerable to Widnes, who have a far better points difference and sit two points back. A large chunk of that points difference was ammassed this weekend as the Vikings won 116-6 against struggling North Wales, marking the fourth time this year that the Welsh side have conceded 100 or more.
Danny Richardson set records as he scored 48 of those points, 36 of which came through goals as he also bagged himself a hat-trick of tries.
The other three results were far closer as Whitehaven beat Swinton 34-24, Midlands saw off Batley by just four points, and Sheffield went to Salford and won 30-24 thanks to a late try from former Salford man Kai Morgan.
Elsewhere, Keighley and Dewsbury did not face off as the game was cancelled due to unsafe playing conditions with the Cougars having not watered the pitch enough. Despite efforts to get the game on, including a fire vehicle watering the surface, the game had to be cancelled and will be rescheduled.
