BBC confirm coverage of blockbuster third round Challenge Cup tie as full fixtures, dates and kick-off times confirmed

Challenge Cup

The full details of the Challenge Cup Third Round are now confirmed, with dates, kick-off times and broadcast details being revealed for each of the 16 ties.

The 13 Super League clubs (Toulouse declined to participate) are joined with 19 teams from the Championship and community game, as they all look to go one step further in booking their spot at Wembley Stadium.

Every top flight side has been drawn away from home in a bid to increase revenue for the lower tiered club, although some, like Sheffield Eagles and Lock Lane, will play it at their opponents ground in order to maximise ticket sales.

All ties will be played between the 6-8 February, and there are some intriguing contests that will take place, as second tier sides look to provide an upset.

St Helens will have a long trip to Cumbria on the Friday evening, where they will take on Workington Town, whilst Leeds Rhinos will battle Widnes Vikings for the first time since 2018.

In the last 10 meetings between the Vikings and Rhinos, Widnes have actually won five of them, something that will no doubt give them confidence heading into the contest.

Wigan Warriors have a short trip to Rochdale, whilst current holders Hull KR will take on Lock Lane, who are the only community side left in the competition.

Another huge tie between two evenly-matched sides will see Bradford Bulls travel to London Broncos, as Jason Demetriou’s side look to overcome Super League opposition for the first time in their ‘new era’.

That game has been selected for the BBC cameras, and will be available on free-to-air TV on Sunday 8 February.

The Sportsman will also cover a game that weekend, though their selection is still to be confirmed.
