The match officials for this weekend’s Challenge Cup semi-finals have been confirmed with Hull KR set to take on Catalans Dragons, and Warrington Wolves facing Leigh Leopards.
There remains a possibility that we could see a repeat of the 2023 Challenge Cup Final when Leigh defeated Hull KR in golden point via Lachlan Lam’s drop goal, whilst last year’s finalists Warrington Wolves are also hoping to return to Wembley.
Catalans famously won the Challenge Cup in 2018, a year after contesting the Million Pound Game and facing relegation from Super League.
They will take on Super League leaders Hull KR on Saturday at York’s LNER Community Stadium with Warrington and Leigh set to face off a day later at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium.
Both the Robins and Leopards head into their games on the back of wins but it’s the Robins and Wire who are favoured with the bookmakers, whilst Hull KR are fancied to break their trophy drought as the 5/4 favourites for the competition.
Chris Kendall to take charge of Hull KR v Catalans Dragons
The RFL have now confirmed who will officiate the games with Chris Kendall set to take charge of the game between Rovers and Catalans, with Ben Thaler in support.
Kendall officiated the Challenge Cup Final in 2024 where he sent two players to the sin bin inside the opening five minutes, in a frenzied start at Wembley.
Sunday’s game will see Liam Moore in charge with Jack Smith serving as the video referee for that game. Moore officiated in Leigh’s win at Magic Weekend over Catalans.
With three red cards shown in the past two weeks as well as a flurry of sin bins, all eyes will be on the officiating especially with both games broadcast on free-to-air TV.
Both games will be aired by the BBC with more details on how and when to watch here.

The indecisive Kendall, teamed up with Thaler who’ll happily spend 10 minutes playing with the video replays, the nightmare team together! This game could take three hours to complete! Worst case scenario. On the plus side, there is no plus side with these two.
