Challenge Cup semi-final referees locked in as St Helens, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Hull KR learn officials

This year’s Challenge Cup semi-finals pose some of the most interesting knockout games in recent history in the competition and the referees for the matches have now been confirmed.

All four remaining teams in the men’s competition sit inside the top five of Super League with leaders Leeds Rhinos the only side not to make the final four, having suffered another early exit from the competition.

Instead, the semi-finals see St Helens take on Wigan Warriors where a repeat of the drama on Good Friday would ensure a brilliant match, whilst Sunday’s game is a repeat of last year’s Challenge Cup Final as Hull KR take on Warrington Wolves.

That final was won in the final seconds as Hull KR secured their first piece of silverware in four decades as they started their journey to become treble winners and Willie Peters’ side now continue their journey to defend the trophy.

Those games will be double headers with the women’s Challenge Cup semi-finals where Wigan Warriors take on York Valkyrie on Saturday, before St Helens face Leeds Rhinos on the Sunday.

The referee and video referee for each match has now been confirmed with Jack Smith set to officiate Saturday’s derby between St Helens and Wigan Warriors, where he will be helped by Tom Grant as the video referee.

Sunday then sees Liam Moore take charge of Hull KR and Warrington Wolves with Chris Kendall working as the video referee. Moore was the man who refereed these two in last year’s final at Wembley though it was Jack Smith in the video referee booth that day.
