The first five games of the second round of the Challenge Cup have been played with four Super League sides learning their opponents for round three.
Round two of the competition saw the 20 Championship clubs added to the pot alongside the 19 community clubs who win in round one, with Lock Lane earning a bye to round three after Featherstone Rovers entered administration.
The West Yorkshire club landed a huge tie against Hull KR, with that game now confirmed to be held at Craven Park, but four other Super League sides have joined the Robins in knowing who they will face in early February.
Huddersfield Giants, York Knights, Wigan Warriors and last year’s defeated finalists Warrington Wolves have all had their round three clashes confirmed after today’s matches.
Challenge Cup round two so far
The first of those matches was between York-based amateur side Heworth, who faced off against Keighley Cougars with the Championship side racing to a 62-0 win. The Cougars will now face either Midlands Hurricanes or Aberavon Fighting Irish.
There was a similar story in another game between a community club and a Champ side as Hunslet beat Stanningley 44-0 to book their place in round three, where they will meet Huddersfield Giants.
Swinton Lions looked like they could be the first big shock as they trailed Ince Rose Bridge heading into the final quarter but they came out on top as 44-26 winners, setting up a clash with Wakefield Trinity.
Barrow Raiders handily beat Wigan St Judes to set up a clash with York Knights whilst the all-Championship affair between Sheffield Eagles and Whitehaven saw Craig Lingard’s side win 18-6 meaning Warrington will travel to Sheffield in February.
