Challenge Cup results in full including Wigan Warriors’ unique win as fourth round draw set

Wigan Warriors made rugby league history as they won 83-0 to progress to round four of the Challenge Cup.

That win over Rochdale Hornets is the first time that a scoreline of 83-0 has been recorded in the professional game and it was all possible due to Bevan French’s cheeky drop goal minutes before half-time to make it 39-0.

French was one of several who got himself a try as well with Jake Wardle scoring three and Zach Eckersley crossing over four times as Matt Peet’s side ran in 15 tries to record the unique scoreline.

Fellow Super League side Wakefield Trinity also ran riot as they won 82-6, with Catalans Dragons defeating Batley Bulldogs 54-6 to add to the one-sided scores.

Bradford Bulls were the other Super League side in action and they also won, overturning an 8-4 deficit at the half to win 26-8 as their hosts suffered horrible injury luck with four players going off in the first half and then a fifth to mean they played the final half an hour with just 12 men.

Despite London’s loss, there will be three Championship teams in the draw for the fourth round with Goole Vikings, Oldham RLFC and Keighley Cougars winning the three all-Championship ties.

Oldham won handily by a score of 46-0 but the Vikings and Cougars both came from behind to win with Goole a 12/1 underdog and overturning a 14-0 deficit to beat Halifax, whilst Keighley scored a last-gasp winner to beat Midlands Hurricanes.

Below are all of the results from today as well as Friday and Saturday, with an alphabetised list of the teams in the pot for the fourth round draw at the foot of the article. That draw will take place on Monday night with details available here and ball numbers expected to come soon.
