The Challenge Cup quarter-finals are upon us with the referee appointments for each of the four games now confirmed.
Teams are just two wins away from a trip to Wembley and holders Hull KR still in the running to defend their crown, with the Robins set to host York Knights on Saturday afternoon.
York famously beat Hull KR in the opening game of the Super League season back in February but the Robins have started to hit their stride, whilst the Knights are going through somewhat of an injury crisis and also have key players David Nofoaluma and Sam Cook cup-tied.
The referee for that game has now been confirmed with Marcus Griffiths set to take charge. It’s also worth noting that this will be the first round of the competition when the video referee is in play, and that role has been handed to Liam Moore for this clash.
Appointments for the other three quarter-finals have also been announced with the first match playing out on Friday night between St Helens and Catalans Dragons. Aaron Moore will be the man in the middle with Chris Kendall supporting as the video referee.
Whilst KR face York at 1:30 pm on Saturday, the early evening fixture pits Warrington Wolves against Leigh Leopards in a repeat of the game played just seven days earlier, when Wire won 42-6. Jack Smith will work alongside video referee Tom Grant for that one.
Concluding the Challenge Cup quarter-finals, Wakefield Trinity host Wigan Warriors in the other BBC game with BBC One airing that clash. Liam Moore will take charge with Jack Smith working as the video referee.
