Challenge Cup Final travel warning amid Wembley Stadium Station closure as alternative plans confirmed

Fans of all clubs will make the yearly pilgrimage to Wembley for Saturday’s Challenge Cup Final day, however, they may have to arrange different travel plans as Wembley Stadium Station will be closed.

Around 60,000 fans are expected to descend on Wembley this Saturday where Wigan Warriors look to complete the Challenge Cup Final day double, with their women’s team defending their title against rivals St Helens, before their men’s side look to defeat the holders Hull KR.

The schoolboys final, which will also be played, features two schools from the Wigan area so plenty of fans can be expected from the WN postcode, however, those fans have been handed a big blow in respect to travel.

Wigan Warriors have shared a message with fans that because of engineering works between Wigan North Western and Warrington Bank Quay on Saturday, there will be no direct trains from Wigan to London.

That itself is a frustration but it’s also been confirmed that Wembley Stadium Station will also be closed due to engineering works, something that will affect every fan who is attending the Challenge Cup Final.

How to get to Wembley for the Challenge Cup Final amid key closure

Wembley Stadium Station is exactly as it says, a tube station that arrives outside the national stadium with the walk from the train to the ground approximately just under half a mile away.

With that now closed, fans who plan on arriving by train will have to rearrange with the next best station to arrive at being Wembley Park Station, which is a mile away from the ground.

One bonus of arriving at Wembley Park, despite the longer walk, is that the walk takes you up the famous Wembley way, which is an iconic part of Challenge Cup Final day.

That will obviously be very busy due to the closure of Wembley Station so another alternative for fans to arrive at the ground would be Wembley Central, which is also a one mile walk from the ground.

Both stations are part of the London Underground network, though Wembley Park is served by both the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, with Wembley Central part of the Bakerloo line. The Metropolitan line connects at King’s Cross, where many fans will arrive having travelled from northern stations, meaning Wembley Park will be the best option for those fans.

    What a shame Wigan.
Now you only need to get hammered on Saturday, to give everybody else in the entire country the utmost pleasure.
You have successfully DISRESPECTED us all.

You should really edit this if the aim is to provide accurate info.

“Wembley Stadium Station is exactly as it says, a tube station” – Incorrect, no tubes go from that station.
“Wembley Park Station, which is a mile away from the ground” – Incorrect, it’s not even half a mile from the ground.
