The referees for the men’s and women’s Challenge Cup Final matches on Saturday have been confirmed by the RFL, with the 1895 Cup Final officials also announced.
It’s a bumper day of rugby league at Wembley on Saturday with three matches set to take place and whilst they’re massive games for the players, they’re also massive for the referees.
Officiating in a Challenge Cup Final is among the top honour for any official and this year, the men’s and women’s matches will be refereed by brothers Liam and Aaron Moore.
Young brother Aaron will take charge of the women’s final for the second year in a row and he’s got a Good Friday derby to take charge of with Wigan Warriors and St Helens facing off just before midday.
Just over three hours later, older brother Liam will officiate the men’s Challenge Cup Final between Hull KR and Warrington Wolves. Incredibly, it will be his third time officiating the game having done so in 2020 and 2021.
Liam Rush, the youngest member of the RFL’s full-time referees, will take charge of the 1895 Cup Final between York Knights and Featherstone Rovers with that game slated for a 5.45 pm kick-off.
