Fresh off the back of hosting Celebrity Traitors, Claudia Winkleman has made a surprise visit to a wheelchair rugby league club.
That’s not a sentence that many will expect to read or this author would expect to write either but that’s exactly what has happened with beloved TV personality Claudia Winkleman visiting North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair Rugby League club.
Winkleman is in high demand at the moment with her recent stint hosting Celebrity Traitors, a reality show that garnered over 13 million viewers for it’s finale earlier this month, cementing her status as one of the UK’s leading TV personalities.
She’s also the host of Strictly Come Dancing, a role that she will resign at the conclusion of this current series, bringing a close to her two decade-long association with the show.
Whilst a new series of Celebrity Traitors is expected to air in 2026, there’s also a chance that you might see the 53-year-old at a wheelchair rugby league game after her latest link up.

Wheelchair rugby league gets profile boost from Celebrity Traitors host Claudia Winkleman
Winkleman is an ambassador for National Lottery Good Causes and a short video shared by them has seen the Celebrity Traitors host attend a wheelchair rugby league training session in Wales.
North Wales Crusaders Rugby League Club receive National Lottery funding via Sport Wales and Winkleman attended a training session and spoke to those who represent the club to find out exactly what it means to have access to such an inclusive sport.
Wheelchair rugby league caters for everyone with able-bodied and disabled players both eligible to play, as well as all genders and sexes being able to play.
As a result, wheelchair rugby league allows for a level of inclusivity not seen in many sports but it doesn’t stop it being competitive with Winkleman spectating from the sidelines and labelling it “vicious” at one point.
She explained that the National Lottery helps fund “over 660,000 good causes” with North Wales Crusaders wheelchair side being just one of those.
As well as highlighting the great work that National Lottery Good Causes does, Winkleman’s involvement has also helped shine a light on wheelchair rugby league, which is a vastly growing sport.
England will defend their crown at next year’s World Cup, which is set to be held in Australia, having just recently won the Ashes against Australia.
