Catalans Dragons are in full rebuild mode with promises of over a dozen players leaving and arriving, and two more departures have been identified.
Having consistently challenged at the top of Super League from 2019 until 2023, in a period which saw the club win a League Leaders Shield and make two Grand Finals, the 2024 and 2025 campaigns have been a major drop-off.
Failure to make the play-offs last year was viewed as unacceptable and owner Bernard Guasch threatened change and that would come midway through this current season as Steve McNamara was sacked.
Joel Tomkins was appointed interim head coach, a role that has since been elevated with the former Wigan and Hull KR man handed a two-year deal, however, he hasn’t fared much better.
Tomkins has overseen just one win in nine but Guasch has backed him and he’s set to back him with a huge squad overhaul as well which will see plenty of much-loved players exit.
Catalans Dragons all-time try-scorer set for exit
According to reports in France, two of those who will be leaving are the club’s all-time leading try-scorer Fouad Yaha and middle forward Paul Seguier.
Between them, the pair have almost 300 games for the club, including 27 this year, but French outlet L’Independant have reported that both men will head to the French Elite 1 competition.
Yaha has been on the outskirts at the club for a couple of years and the ascension of young talents such as Leo Darrelatour has pushed him out further, however, Seguier, who is still only 27, has been a consistent performer.
Despite that, he will reportedly link up with Carcassonne whilst Yaha will join Lezignan in two big exits from the Dragons.
Joel Tomkins has made it a stated goal that the club intend to lower their average age in this recruitment cycle but Seguier and Yaha will only be 28 and 29 at the start of next season, so their exits seem odd.
Les Dracs have already confirmed NRL recruits Toby Sexton and Solomona Faataape for the 2026 season and they’re expected to be the first of many signings, whilst Yaha and Seguier seem likely to be the first of many departures.
