Catalans Dragons v Leigh Leopards team news as hosts make four changes and Leigh star returns

Leigh Leopards boss Adrian Lam talks to Sky Sports

Leigh Leopards travel to face a Catalans Dragons side reeling after a 68-6 loss to Hull KR and the team news for both sides is in.

It’s almost impossible for Catalans to be as bad as they were last Friday night when they visited Craven Park when they let Hull KR run riot in what was an ill-disciplined performance.

That ill-discipline was characterised best when captain Benjamin Garcia was sent off, earning him a four-match ban, meaning he will miss this and the next three games.

Joel Tomkins will have to look to another player to try and lead and inspire this side who broke a record for the longest time between points in Super League last week, finally scoring after 312 minutes when Luke Keary broke the line.

As for Leigh Leopards, they came through a hard-fought clash with Wakefield Trinity as they kept pace with Leeds Rhinos. Leigh’s 24-20 win saw David Armstrong play his best game yet for the club, whilst Ben McNamara stepped up once again in Gareth O’Brien’s absence.

Catalans Dragons team news

There are four changes made by Joel Tomkins with at least three of those enforced. Garcia drops out through suspension whilst Reimis Smith does as well after a head injury in training. Tariq Sims lasted just a few minutes last week against Hull KR with a calf issue so he also drops out.

Theo Fages is the other man to drop out as Paul Seguier, Jordan Dezaria, Fouad Yaha and Clement Martin all join the 21-man squad.

Sam Tomkins is named once again and looks a chance of playing this week, most likely in the halves given Fages’ absence. Elliott Whitehead still remains out with an injury meaning Arthur Romano will likely continue in the second-row.

Catalans Dragons 21-man squad: Sam Tomkins, Tommy Makinson, Arthur Romano, Nick Cotric, Luke Keary, Tevita Pangai Jr, Julian Bousquet, Oliver Partington, Alrix Da Costa, Chris Satae, Romain Navarrete, Bayley Sironen, Cesar Rouge, Paul Seguier, Jordan Dezaria, Fouad Yaha, Matthieu Laguerre, Franck Maria, Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet, Leo Darrelatour

Leigh Leopards team news

Adrian Lam had confirmed that, barring no setbacks, everyone bar Aaron Pene and Louis Brogan would be available and that has seen Ethan O’Neill return to the 21-man squad in major boosts.

He replaces Andy Badrock as Gareth O’Brien is named for the second week in a row, though will have a far stronger chance of playing this week. Josh Charnley is named once again and it will be interesting to see if he makes the matchday squad or is the 18th man once again, as he was against Wakefield.

Leigh Leopards 21-man squad: David Armstrong, Darnell McIntosh, Tesi Niu, Umyla Hanley, Josh Charnley, Gaz O’Brien, Lachlan Lam, Owen Trout, Robbie Mulhern, Frankie Halton, Jack Hughes, Isaac Liu, Alec Tuitavake, Matt Davis, Brad Dwyer, Keanan Brand, Ethan O’Neill, Ben McNamara, Bailey Hodgson, Joe Ofahengaue
