Catalans Dragons v Leigh Leopards line-ups predicted with Sam Tomkins and Gaz O’Brien calls made

Catalans Dragons host Leigh Leopards looking to respond from their awful loss to Hull KR and we’ve predicted how both sides will line up.

That 68-6 defeat at Craven Park was a record defeat for Catalans in Super League with interim coach Joel Tomkins labelling it as “embarrassing”, urging his side to restore pride in the badge.

Back at home, they’re tasked with doing that against a Leigh side who have just beaten Wakefield Trinity 24-20. David Armstrong played a starring role but he’s been dubbed 50-50 for this game with Leopards’ coach Adrian Lam well aware that Leigh will gave to rest their star man at times this season.

This week could be one of those occasions with Armstrong the only player in the 21-man squad who is 50-50, though Lam also conceded that there would be a gameday decision on who starts between Gaz O’Brien and Ben McNamara.

As for Joel Tomkins, he doesn’t have as many luxuries with a number of key players missing including captain Benjamin Garcia after he landed a four-game ban for his punches against KR.

We’ve predicted how each side could line up based on the 21-man squads.

How Catalans Dragons could line up against Leigh

Joel Tomkins is without the suspended Garcia as well as fresh injury concerns Tariq Sims (calf) and Reimis Smith (head), whilst Theo Fages also wasn’t named to the squad.

Should Sam Tomkins make his long-awaited return then he’ll replace Fages, whilst Fouad Yaha could play on the wing with Cotric moving to centre to cover Smith.

Arthur Romano has been playing in the second-row and that looks set to continue with Cesar Rouge moved to the bench to accomodate for no Garcia as a spare utility option.

Predicted Catalans Dragons XIII: Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet; Tommy Makinson, Mathieu Laguerre, Nick Cotric, Fouad Yaha; Luke Keary, Sam Tomkins; Julian Bousquet, Alrix Da Costa, Paul Seguier; Bayley Sironen, Arthur Romano, Oliver Partington

Interchanges: Cesar Rouge, Tevita Pangai Jr, Chris Satae, Romain Navarrete

How Leigh Leopards could line up against Catalans

Adrian Lam confirmed that both Gaz O’Brien and Ben McNamara would be in the 17-man squad whilst David Armstrong was 50-50. Playing Hodgson instead of the injury concern Armstrong would allow for McNamara on the bench as the sole utility.

Matty Davis would then drop out as Ethan O’Neill returns in a bench packed with forwards to match the size of Catalans.

It would mean Josh Charnley would miss out again with Lam having also provided an update on the winger’s status at the club.

Predicted Leigh Leopards XIII: Bailey Hodgson; Darnell McIntosh, Tesi Niu, Umyla Hanley, Keanan Brand; Gaz O’Brien, Lachlan Lam; Joe Ofahengaue, Edwin Ipape, Robbie Mulhern; Frankie Halton, Owen Trout, Isaac Liu

Interchanges: Alec Tuitavake, Ben McNamara, Ethan O’Neill, Jack Hughes
