Castleford Tigers unveil new crest as club rebrands for centenary year

Castleford Tigers

Ahead of the 2026 season, Castleford Tigers have launched a new club badge in a rebrand to mark their centenary year.

The Tigers ended their 2025 season with plenty of fight as they scored a flurry of late tries to push St Helens, albeit they couldn’t quite close the gap as they lost 26-24.

It brought a curtain down on a difficult season that saw head coach Danny McGuire axed, however, the club are clearly now building for a more exciting future with Ryan Carr confirmed as their new head coach and a host of overseas signings already announced.

Director of rugby Chris Chester, who has also served as interim coach since McGuire’s sacking, has explained that it’s his job to create a play-off team which highlights the club’s ambition but also underlines a serious task.

Finishing the 2025 season in eleventh place with just six wins all year, Cas would have to improve plenty to crack the top six. It’s now been confirmed that they’ll enter 2026 with a new crest as their rebrand looks to modernise.

Serious About Rugby League has launched a brand new podcast which can be watched in full on our YouTube channel here.

Castleford Tigers launch new ‘modern’ crest for 2026

Castleford held a launch event this morning and that’s been followed by a club statement to confirm the new badge, adopting a shield shape with a black outline and stripes atop an orange background. A front-facing tiger sits in the centre with Castleford Tigers capitalised above it and the year of their founding, 1926, sitting below it.

The club describe it as such: “Featuring a more modern tiger, the badge sits within a Roman shield, a nod to the town of Castleford’s coat of arms, with stripes running through the shield inspired by the club’s famous 1986 shirt. The new look also proudly features the words “Castleford Tigers” and the year of the club’s birth, 1926.”

It’s a badge that features a new font and Pantone palette, something Castleford claim will enable them to take a “more consistent and professional approach to branding”.

In explaining the decision, they revealed that owner Martin Jepson had wanted to modernise the badge, whilst respecting heritage.

He said: “One phrase that kept coming up over the period we worked together on the badge was ‘respecting heritage and embracing tomorrow,’ which I feel we have achieved.

“For too long we have seen inconsistencies in the club’s colours and branding, and this new approach gives us the opportunity to start again with a strong and recognisable badge, steeped in our history.

“We have many improvements to make on the field, but those must be supported by a new approach to everything off the pitch too — and this will go a long way to helping us achieve that.”

You can see the badge in the embedded tweet below.

To say that I am underwhelmed, is an understatement!
How many people & how long – for that?
