Salford Red Devils star men return for Castleford Tigers clash

Castleford Tigers host Salford Red Devils for the second time in Super League this year and the team news for today’s clash has been confirmed.

Danny McGuire’s side won last time out with the 22-14 win being the first for McGuire as a head coach, however, the game was closer than the scoreline reflected.

Salford’s team is considerably different since then with a number of high-profile player exits including Chris Atkin and Brad Singleton, who both now plat for Castleford Tigers.

Paul Rowley confirmed that club captain Ryan Brierley was in line to return, whilst Nene Macdonald was back in the country after heading Down Under for the birth of his child.

As for Castleford, they were hoping to bounce back from a sorry performance at Magic Weekend where rivals Wakefield Trinity made light work of them.

Both of the former Salford Red Devils players are named on the bench alongside the returning Sam Hall and Louis Senior with Danny McGuire naming a very strong side.

Liam Horne starts at hooker with Muizz Mustapha locking the pack but there is no Judah Rimbu and fellow Papua New Guinean Jeremiah Simbiken remains out long-term.

Salford Red Devils team news

Both Nene Macdonald and Ryan Brierley do return with Macdonald moved to the wing and Brierley into the halves on account of Joe Mellor’s injury.

That means Ethan Ryan slots in at full-back but he could swap with Chris Hankinson who also returns after being labelled a chance by Paul Rowley.

Star man Tiaki Chan starts from the bench whilst Leeds’ loanee Toby Warren starts in the second row.
