Castleford Tigers have released an injury update ahead of the club’s clash with Leeds Rhinos this Sunday.
The Tigers will announced their 21-man squad for that game tomorrow [Friday], but the side have already confirmed some early team news, and the latest has been provided on a number of key players.
Firstly, young full-back Fletcher Rooney will miss the next three months with a hamstring injury. The 20-year-old missed four months of 2025 with a quad injury, and will be out for another lengthy period this season.
Rooney is set for another surgery, in what is another cruel blow in the speedster’s career.
Elsewhere, Cain Robb and Louis Senior have both had successful surgeries on ankle ligament injuries. Robb, whose last competitive game was in September last year, will be out for another four weeks, whilst Senior, who was injured in the pre-season friendly against St Helens, will miss the next 10 weeks.
Skipper Alex Mellor suffered a fractured tibia in defeat to Toulouse Olympique, and should return to the action in 6-8 weeks.
The club also provided an update on star full-back Blake Taaffe, who sustained an ACL injury in the opening round loss to Wigan Warriors. He will miss the rest of 2026, but has had a successful surgery and will begin rehab shortly.
No update has been given on forward Brock Greacen, who is yet to make his Super League debut for the club after picking up an injury prior to the round one game against the Warriors.
Tigers head coach Ryan Carr will speak to the press later today, as he previews the local derby against the Rhinos, who go into the game on the back of a huge win over Hull KR in Las Vegas.
