One Castleford Tigers player has confirmed his exit from the club with that move making way for a new signing to arrive.
Hull KR announced the signing of former Leigh Leopards forward Tom Amone from Canterbury Bulldogs for the 2026 season, however, the Robins did not have either the salary cap space or an available quota spot for him in 2025.
That saw them reach out to Castleford Tigers with the West Yorkshire club signing Amone for the remainder of the 2025 season, something which forced a decision regarding the club’s overseas quota spots.
Castleford had a maximum of seven overseas players and Danny McGuire confirmed that a decision would be made for one to make way to allow for Amone’s arrival.
Papua New Guinean international Sylvester Namo was not named in the 21-man squad last week when Cas faced off against Wakefield Trinity, prompting suggestions the forward would make way.
Castleford Tigers forward sends message as he departs club
That has now been confirmed with Namo taking to social media to confirm his departure from the club, posting on his Instagram account.
The 24-year-old posted: “Thank you Castleford Tigers for the great opportunity and experience here. Really appreciate it. On to the next chapter.”
Club captain Sam Wood was among those to wish Namo “all the best” as fans thanked the forward for his service and offered him well wishes.
With Namo now out of the club, it frees up the quota space needed for Castleford to register Tom Amone meaning that the former Leigh man could be in line to debut this weekend against Huddersfield Giants.
That will be a huge clash for both sides with Huddersfield still winless and Castleford only boasting one win all season as well. Adding a player of Amone’s pedigree to their pack will certainly help Danny McGuire’s side for that fixture and the remainder of the season.
