A number of Super League players, including ones from Castleford Tigers and Leigh Leopards, will be sweating today’s disciplinary verdict.
Round 16 of Super League was quiet when it came to sin bins as just one player was shown a yellow card, however, the Match Review Panel will check out plenty of other incidents to ensure no one falls foul in terms of disciplinary.
We’re getting to the stage in the season where even lesser Grade A or Grade B charges can bring about suspensions given player’s previous disciplinary records, meaning every Super League charge matters.
Three players were suspended last week including Joe Shorrocks, Alec Tuitavake and Chris Satae, whilst Wigan Warriors’ Harvie Hill was suspended for his actions in a reserve game.
We’ve looked back through some of the incidents in Round 16 of Super League to work out which players could be facing disciplinary action from the Match Review Panel.
Who will be sweating the Super League disciplinary verdict?
Mikey Lewis was the only man sent to the sin bin, however, it is hard to imagine that his actions warrant a ban and they might not even draw a charge. The reigning Man of Steel pulled back a Wakefield player as they attempted to chase the ball and potentially ground it but the number off covering defenders ensured it wasn’t a penalty try and probably mean either no charge or a small charge for the professional foul.
One man who was also penalised on the field but didn’t get sent to the bin was Liam Horne with the Castleford man catching Jack Farrimond high and flush on the face.
It happened right in front of the sticks and Wigan opted to take the two, drawing the game level at 20-20 before they scored from the restart to win the match.
Other players to be penalised for fouls that could see a follow-up from the Match Review Panel include Robbie Mulhern with the England international hitting the kicker late. It’s something that has been stamped down on in 2025 and may therefore see a charge.
Mason Lino did the same to Mikey Lewis and could also find himself in hot water.
