Castleford Tigers have confirmed a new NRL signing for the 2026 season as the club set about their rebuild under Chris Chester.
Chester, who left his role as Leigh Leopards director of rugby to assume the same role at Wheldon Road mid-season, spoke to the media today (Thursday) to confirm that there would be a lot of ‘positive news’ coming out of the club in the coming days and weeks.
Much of that was thought to relate to the fact he had confirmed that Castleford will likely be in a position to announce their new head coach by next Friday, following a meeting of the Tigers’ board.
However, it seems that Chester was also alluding to some new signings with the club confirming the arrival of Newcastle Knights forward Brock Greacen with the 23-year-old prop inking a two-year deal at the Jungle. Chester explained that Greacen came highly recommended with former Hull KR pair Blake Green and Michael Dobson among those in the Newcastle set-up to speak highly of the 23-year-old.
He’s the sort of signing from Down Under that Chris Chester made whilst at Leigh, young and having played a number of times in the reserve grades before ultimately making a big name of themselves in Super League. Castleford Tigers fans will be hoping Greacen can fulfill that type of projection as the likes of Tom Amone did at Leigh.
Castleford Tigers sign Brock Greacen from Newcastle Knights
Greacen has played 34 games in the New South Wales Cup and made his NRL debut earlier this year, however, he’s swapped Newcastle for Castleford ahead of the 2026 campaign.
A club statement confirmed the signing: “Castleford Tigers are pleased to announce the signing of Australian forward Brock Greacen for the Betfred Super League 2026 Season.
“The 23-year-old Prop joins the club from Newcastle Knights on a two-year deal.”
Speaking on his deal, Greacen said: “I’m really excited to be joining the club, I’ve heard some really good things about the fans, and the atmosphere over there, I can’t wait to get over there and play in front of the fans.”
Director of Rugby Chris Chester added: “I’m over the moon to have been able to bring Brock to the Tigers for the 2026 & 2027 season. Brock is a young, hungry middle that has come highly recommended by a couple of my old teammates Blake Green and Michael Dobson at the Newcastle Knights.
“He is a hardworking middle that can also play edge. His effort levels both sides of the ball are second to none and I can’t wait to start working with Brock in pre-season.”
