Castleford Tigers have confirmed that one of their playmakers, who had left on a short-term deal, will now leave on loan for the rest of the year.
The Tigers fell to a narrow defeat against Wigan Warriors in Saturday night in which Danny McGuire tested a new halves pairing with Daejarn Asi playing alongside Chris Atkin, as Rowan Milnes was dropped.
One of the club’s other playmaking options has spent time out on loan in the Championship of late and it’s now been confirmed that the initial month-long deal will be extended for the remainder of the season.
Teenage talent Jenson Windley joined Sheffield Eagles on loan at the end of May, reuniting with Craig Lingard who handed him his debut for the Tigers.
The 28-year-old has played the last four games for Sheffield, staring all of them at half-back and it’s likely he stays there for the remainder of 2025 with both clubs having agreed to an extension.

Windley is still only 18 and made his debut in August last year for Castleford Tigers, back when current Sheffield head coach Craig Lingard was in charge at Wheldon Road.
The teen played in the final five games of the season but was yet to feature under Danny McGuire and with the addition of Chris Atkin, he fell further down the pecking order.
Windley scored on his Sheffield Eagles debut and will hope to play a key role in lifting them out of the bottom four in the Championship over the final 12 games of the year.
Confirming the deal, Sheffield released a statement explaining that they were ‘delighted to confirm’ that the deal had been extended for the remainder of the season.
They added: “The 18-year-old Castleford Tigers loanee joined us originally at the end of May on an initial-month deal, but this has been extended having made a total of four appearances so far for the club.
“The half-back was recently named as Player of the Match at our recent Betfred Championship home clash against Doncaster two weeks ago.”
Castleford took to X, announcing: “Castleford Tigers can confirm Jenson Windley will be extending his spell with @SheffieldEagles to a season long loan.”
