Castleford Tigers were torn apart by Wakefield Trinity and their head coach Ryan Carr has now torn into his players for their performance.
Opening up the Sunday of Super League Magic Weekend, Castleford were beaten 48-6 by West Yorkshire rivals Wakefield, who had beaten the Tigers 34-0 earlier in the season.
After a spell of improved performances, this marked the second very poor showing from the Tigers after last week’s shock loss to York Knights but this defeat was far more embarrassing in nature.
Wakefield scored four tries in the first half before turning the screw and scoring five in the second 40 as they condemned Castleford to a heavy loss and head coach Ryan Carr has now given his verdict on what was a torrid performance by the Tigers.
“We just didn’t give ourselves a chance from the start,” Carr told Sky Sports.
“Errors and penalties turned into a 40% ball for an 80-minute game. It’s very rare in a whole game that you get 40% of the ball. It’s our own fault.”

Castleford Tigers boss puts blame on ‘individuals’ after huge loss to Wakefield
Asked what he put that down to, Carr pointed the finger firmly at his players as he explained that individuals were not doing what had been worked on during the week.
“Individuals,” he replied.
“Individuals in key moments. Everything that we got wrong, we spoke about very much in the weekend training for it so I’m disappointed in that.”
Carr also insisted that he has the answers to the problems at the club though he insisted that it is a long process, something that would suggest he needs a recruit cycle to remove certain individuals and sign others.
“I know the answers,” he said.
“I know what I need to know and that will stay with me. It’s a journey we’re on and I’m fixing that.”
On his confidence at fixing things up, he said: “(I’m) 100% (confident). Like I said, I’ve identified what it is but sometimes you’ve just got to roll with the punches and take some bumps along the road. We’re taking them now but the road won’t look the same, put it that way.
“It’s my job to get the best performance out of this team every single week.”
Carr also confirmed that his side had suffered three head knocks with both George Hirst and Brock Greacen definitely failing, whilst it’s thought that Tyler Dupree did as well.
Looking ahead, he said: “We’ll get three there with an opportunity and I’ll be giving some other people opportunities on the back of that performance. There’s a lot of learning going on about individuals at the moment for me.
“It’s my job to make sure that we don’t continue to make the same mistakes as a club over the next 12 months.”
