Bradford Bulls tie former Hull FC man down as contract extension signed

Bradford Bulls are in retention mode and just a week after Joe Mellor’s contract extension, the club have confirmed a new deal for outside back Connor Wynne.

Wynne was one of many who signed for the Bulls this off-season with the 25-year-old arriving from Featherstone Rovers for what would be his second stint at Odsal.

He’s hit the ground running in Super League with five tries in nine appearances so far this season and such performances have been rewarded with Wynne now the latest at Bradford to sign a new deal.

A club statement confirmed: “Bradford Bulls are delighted to announce Connor Wynne has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal to remain with the club until at least the end of the 2027 season.”

What Connor Wynne said on new Bradford Bulls deal

Wynne, a Hull FC academy player who went on to play 36 times for the Black and Whites, had bounced around a number of Championship clubs on loan deals, with Bradford being one.

He played seven games for the Bulls in 2023 but after an impressive record of 35 tries in 41 appearances for Featherstone, Bradford made him part of their Super League plans and he’s now been rewarded with this new one-year extension.

“It’s a really good feeling to have signed again,” Wynne said, adding: “I feel like I have had a good start but I want to push on even more now. There’s plenty more from me to come and it’s really exciting to sign for next year, the hard work continues.”

On life so far at Bradford, he said: “We shocked a few people early on and we’re getting talked about now and we like that but we need to get them wins under our belt again. For next year, it will obviously be another year together as a group and it can bring something more special than what we already have.

“My message to the Bradford fans is keep supporting us, bring as many fans as you can! I will keep doing what I can do and I know the rest of the boys will, we will give 100% every week but we need you there supporting us.”

Head coach Kurt Haggerty praised Wynne for knuckling down and earning the new contract, through both his pre-season and in-season efforts.

He admitted: “There’s still things he needs to work on and is working on but I am really happy to have him at the club for another 12 months.

“Retention is key, you’ve got to get the right people around the environment the right people to take on the journey not just on the field but off field as well. It is great to get Connor over the line, who is still at a great age and is extremely coachable and hard working, he is a great fit for the club.”
